1 Down, 10 to go!

What a great game from both sides.  Both Job Lester and Johnny Cueto pitched great.  The cubs were lucky enough to get a solo homer in the 8th.  Both pitchers were in control all game.  I had pitched was the difference.  This is a big swing game in the short series.  The Cubs need 2 more wins in this series to move on.
I have dropped all curses this season.  You can always find a person that does something that works for a predetermined belief.  Stays will show that winning a World Series is hard.  All teams that make the playoffs are good and have shown they can win.  The ratio of contending Cubs teams to World Series wins is not that bad.  The have it been to consecutive playoffs 3 times.  EVER.  This may be the first competitive team over a long period of time EVER in the 100+ years.  I don't believe in the curses, that have just been bad.  To win in baseball, you get hot at the right time or sustain greatness over a period of time.  I grew up with a dominating Braves team in the 90's.  They won once.  They Yankees couldn't lose when I was a kid, however, they didn't win every year.  The Cubs have the talent, but they must execute when in counts.  Remember, the other team is also tryongbto execute.  Is it a curse for is it that other team is also good.
Regardless, the Cubs won tonight.  The have a good team.  It is hard not to be excited about what they can do.  Are they the best team in baseball: PROBABLY.  Will they win the World Series:  WHO KNOWS!!!

The cubs now have 101 wins on the season.  I have tried to relax watching their games.  The playoffs start next week and that is when I will be a wreck thinking about each game.  The cubs have home field advantage in the National League.  The American League won the all-star game so they have home field advantage.  I will start writing more when the cubs are in the playoffs.  As far as I am concerned the new magic number is 11.  The number of wins that is will take for them to win the World Series.

9/5/16 Cubs Positives:
I was unable to watch most of the game because it is Labor Day.  Kyle Hendricks was awesome again.  If he can maintain during the playoffs the Cubs will be incredible tough.  They also scored late again to take control of the game.

I don't know anything that was negative about today.

9/5/2016 Closing Thoughts

How can you add anything new.  The Cubs are playing well.  Hopefully they can keep everything loose and fun for the rest of the season.  

September 4, 2016 Magic Number

The Chicago cubs have cut the magic number to 11 games.  It is hard not to get excited for the playoffs even though there is still a lot of baseball left this season.

Home Field Advantage:  18 games

Playoffs:                            9 games

Games left:                      26 games

9/4/16 Cubs Positives:

Jason Hayward has been hitting the ball well lately.  His season numbers are below what we are expecting.  However, he can erase those number with a strong finish and a strong showing in the playoffs, which the cubs still need to make.

The cubs are starting to win a lot of close games against playoff caliber teams in late inning situations.  This can show how strong the cubs could be in playoff run.

9/4/16 Cubs Negatives:

They are struggling to score runs against playoff caliber teams.  The cubs have an entire month where they still need to officially clinch the playoffs while not over using the players,  This is an important time for Joe Maddon.

9/4/2016 Closing Thoughts

At this point in the season there is no right answer on how the Chicago Cube should proceed.  Anything that Joe Maddon does that is successful will show how great he is as a manager.  Anything that doesn't work will be used to feed the pessimism that exists around the Cubs.  The Cubs are a favorite to win the World Series.  Dominating baseball means that you win about 60% of the time.  That would give you about a 97 - 98 wins.  The Cubs are posed to be a little better and break 100 wins.  The problem with only winning 60% of the time is that a one game swing in the playoffs can mean going home instead of moving on.  As excited as I am now, I still have to take one game at a time in about a month.  I do love the feeling that I get from watching those games.
